What to see

The Torre dell’Orologio (clock tower) has a 19th-century structure on a medieval basement and dominates the first peak. The imposing 14th-century Rocca Manfrediana stands on the second peak and it still retains the characteristics of a medieval fortress. Finally, on the third peak there is the shrine Santuario della Madonna (Virgin Mary), a small eighteenth-century temple built to house the ancient image of the Virgin with Child in polychrome terracotta.
At the foot of the Torre dell’Orologio the village winds in a maze of ancient streets, traces of the city walls and stairs carved in the chalk. Brisighella is mysterious during winter days and it is even more fascinating during summer evenings.

Not to be missed

In July, during the famous Medieval Festivals, the old town is lit by torches and brightened up with open-air theatre shows, exhibitions, concerts, banquets and markets.
Watching the historical parades in the old town streets starting from the picturesque via del Borgo is always an extraordinary experience. Via del Borgo is a twelfth-century covered street, which is raised over the street level and where the light filters through half-arches of different width. It is also known as 'Via degli Asini' (Street of the Asses) because it offered shelter to the animals of the birocciai (the ancient carters).
